As soon as you give, you are rich.

If you have the time to help other people, you are rich. That time is one of the greatest gifts you can ever give another human being. As soon as you give that time, you are rich.

If you have it in your heart to care about another person and take action to make a difference for them, you are rich. Your capacity to care and to take action on that emotion is an enormous boon to the recipient.

If you make the effort to be with someone in need, standing by their bed and holding their hand when they are ill, bringing them something to eat or drink, or sitting in a chair next to them, you are rich. Being there makes you rich.

If you provide financial resources to someone or some entity in need, you are rich. There are many people in need, and financial resources can alleviate much pain and suffering. As soon as you give money, you are rich.

A random act of kindness for someone you don’t know and who will never have the ability to repay you, let alone know who to repay, makes you rich. Your willingness to give to strangers with no expectation of being repaid, and no need for any expression of gratitude makes you rich.

If you don’t believe that you can do these things, that belief makes you poor.

You may have less to give than many others, but it is the ability and willingness to give that makes you rich. It is also what will bring you happiness, meaning, and purpose.

Even if you would not consider yourself wealthy by today’s standards, the fact that you have the ability to give is what makes you rich. Even if only a dollar. Even if only an hour. Even if only a kind word. If you give it, you are rich.
