The non-hustler is passive. The world is acting upon them; they are not acting upon the world. This passivity causes them to wait. It also prevents them from taking matters into their own hands, leaving them to drift, to go where they are pushed or pulled instead of charting their own course.
This isn’t meant as criticism. As we go through life, we are infected with a certain set of beliefs, most of which are horribly debilitating and disempowering. The non-hustler doesn’t intentionally decide that they are going to produce mediocre results and settle for a life that is far less than it could be; they just pick up the non-hustler infections.
They pick up the belief that there are people who have wealth, and people that don’t, and there is nothing that there can personally do to improve their financial outcomes. They pick up the belief that some people have less because others have more, and that this is some immutable law of the universe that applies to all from birth.
The non-hustler also picks up the belief that the world is acting upon them, and that not much of what happens to them is within their control. Their lot in life is the fault of the stars. The circumstances of their birth are to blame for their current situation. Their lack of education prevents them from being anything other than what they are now. They will tell you that the government is holding them back, even though the parties trade power every 4 or 8 years and their situation has never improved.
The media provides distractions and excuses for the non-hustler. It equips them with a narrative that explains the world in a way that absolves them of responsibility for their own happiness and their own success. You can easily see the narrative by what they share on social media, and how they talk about all the reasons they can’t be more, do more, have more, and contribute more. Were what they believe true, there wouldn’t be nearly so much evidence to the contrary. The non-hustler has been lulled into settling, and now is complacent and apathetic.
The hustler, however, is the captain and commander of their life. They refuse to accept any beliefs that would limit their potential, and they aren’t willing to settle for a life that isn’t of their own design.
Your success and your happiness are dependent upon what you choose to believe, and your willingness to take action to create the life you want.
If this makes you uncomfortable, then you should read it every day for the next 90 days.
