Sales and The First Kiss

I recently found this quote. It won’t mean much to anyone other than romantics and salespeople. But it will resonate with you if you are in one or both of these groups.

“The decision to kiss for the first time is the most crucial in any love story. It changes the relationship of two people much more strongly than even the final surrender; because this kiss already has within it that surrender.” – Emil Ludwig

Gaining the commitment for the first appointment with your dream client is very much like a first kiss. Your advance is finally accepted. You’re beginning something. The commitment for a meeting already has surrender within it.

The path to that first kiss runs straight through prospecting. A simple yes to an appointment means much more than you think it does. How do you feel about prospecting now?
