I&#039;ve always asked about the problem or opportunity being addressed by the customer in opportunity reviews.  Asking about the customer&#039;s dissatisfaction not only accomplishes the same thing, but simplifies the question.  I also like to context of reason/motivation/ narrative.

Also makes sense to me insist on a clear statement of customer dissatisfaction before deploying any significant amount of resource to chase the opportunity.
